The Seasons was written by Joseph Haydn in 1801 after the great success of his previous oratorio The Creation (1798), which had become very popular and was being performed all over Europe.
The Seasons features orchestra, a chorus, and three vocal soloists: Simon (bass/baritone), Lucas (tenor), and Hanne (soprano).
The oratorio is divided into four parts, representing Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
